Love it or Hate it?

Ahhhh....... The constant debate of using pacifiers on babies. Most of the elders (grandparents) swear by it and those who are younger (like wifey and myself) have mixed feelings about it.

While we understand the need for babies to suckle onto something for comfort, we were also worried when we read reports of speech delay (and crooked teeth?) due to prolong usage of pacifiers....

There are also parents who go pacifier-free and encourage their kids to suckle on their fingers for comfort. In this way, the parents need not worry about the availability of pacifiers, which is especially useful when they are out on trips or during the night when pacifiers tend to slip away from the babies mouth and that will mean sleepy parents urgently searching for the "missing" pacifier for their "angry" babies in the dark.....

Before Little Fella was born, we were still in two minds about it. But if I remember correctly, think we gave in on the fourth day after he was delivered! Truth be told, little babies are quite cute with a pacifier in mouth.

@ 2months plus...

But as they get older, especially when they are 3-4 years old, don't think it will be that cute anymore..... and the older it gets, the harder it is to quit the habit? Actually Little Fella has not been too reliant on the pacifier all along. It is mostly used as a tool for us to aid and "speed up" the time needed for him to fall asleep. At times when he was very tired, he doesnt even require the pacifier at all. Therefore on 1st Jan 2012, wifey and I made the decision to stop using pacifier on Little Fella altogether.

All in all, the transition to being pacifier free for the little one was actually quite hassle free. It only meant that Little Fella took longer to fall asleep during the initial nights but slowly and eventually he readjusted to it without too much issues.

For this, Mighty Daddy and Drama Mama is pretty proud of it! Good Job Son!      =)

The Thomas Craze

A typical scene at home.

Our boy having a good time with his favourite activity at the moment, playing with his collection of Thomas & Friends toy sets. At times he will push and roll the trains onto the tracks on his own and does the occasional "rescue act" (when the trains derail ) by himself. Other times he will prefer us to play together with him.

Frankly speaking, we adults do get bored with the same activitiy repeating itself on a daily basis. There is something monotonous about a train named Thomas going round and round the tracks in our living room. Not so for our boy as the first thing he can lay his hands on every morning (besides his milk bottle) will likely be either a Thomas book or the train sets itself.

Drama Mama and I have been discussing of ways to divert our boy's attention away from the train sets. Not the extreme sort of eliminating all Thomas activity totally but at least it will not be the Only activitiy associated with the little one during his time at home.

We have started a little "experiment" this week and I am proud to say that it is working and Little Fella has been cutting down on his time with the blue locomotive. Great work mummy! ( more on the "experiments" in ensuing blog posts.)

Infant/Toddler Car Seats

Little Fella have always been placed in a car seat whenever he travels in my car. Ever since the first day he left the hospital, it has been the case. Not only is it mandatory by law, personally I think that it is a much safer way to travel in a vehicle.

2 days old baby

Around nine months...

16 months old

He's been so used to it nowadays that he will tell you to buckle his seat belts properly if you have not done so...

Think he totally rocks in his car seat. Its been officially named as the "King's throne".

No matter how many pax we can squeeze into the back seats, he will still be able to be seated comfortably with an "entertainment system" (DVD player) in front of him showing his favourite shows. Not to mention another bag of toys/books right under his car seat.

Now isn't that royal treatment or what?

Havaianas baby sandals

This is Little Fella's favourite pair of footwear at the moment. At times, he will even request to wear it specifically. Yes, at 16 months old, our boy is slowly showing his likes & dislikes on stuffs such as footwear, food, toys and its arrangements etc.

I  must say, he has good taste!     =)

My Own MINI Cooper

Perfect contours, ideal road holding: the MINI Cooper offers unadulterated go-kart feeling. Check out the designs!

The chrome-plated bumper makes a lasting, gleaming impression.

Unmistakable for decades: the chrome trimmed rear lights recall the classic Mini.

Strong, light and perfectly attuned to the Mini: light-chrome wheels.

Circles all round: redolent of the classic Mini, fluid forms such as the speedometer design dominate the dashboard.

Now tell me who wouldn't want to have a beauty like this?

High Chair and Floor Mat

As mentioned in the earlier post, the past weekend have been a busy one and among the accomplished task is shopping!  =)

Went to IKEA Tampines to buy its stuff, have our meals and enjoy the aircon! (Its so hot and humid nowadays..... daddy has been calling me little sweater cause I perspire easily, especially when I'm asleep..)

Both mummy and daddy found something for themselves, as for me, its the chair shown on the left.

Daddy was saying that the chair is easy to maintain/clean, serves its basic purpose and seats quite comfy (with the added cushion), moreover its cheap and matches our house color!

That's me checking out my new chair..

We also went to MotherWorks at Tanglin Mall for this as well:

Can't tell? How about this for a better illustration of its size...

The  LG floor mat is big! and the display are so lively and colorful..... I kept staring and looking at the pictures when daddy showed it to me. After daddy had placed me on the mat, i had initially thought that the pictures were objects and had wanted to reach out and grab them.... The mat is expensive and we will be able to buy ten IKEA high chairs for its price! Papa is hoping that it will be a worthwhile investment eventually in assisting my development skills. Previously the only opportunity for me to be on my tummy was on mummy and daddy's bed. Now I can just lie on the mat and performs my flips, turns, wiggles crawls etc without the fear of falling down from heights.    =)
